Objectives

  • To help future professionals in their transition into work and convey new developments in the field of research to professionals in the sector. The three lines of work are operating hydraulics, hydroeconomics and governance.

  • Impact

1. Activities for training and detecting talent:

- Organisation of seminars in the fields of hydroeconomics and statistical hydrology, governance and socioeconomics.

- Talent detection programme in which the companies pose challenges linked to final theses: data, models, hydroeconomics and governance.

- Proposal of scholarships and prizes for final theses.

- Introduction of hydroeconomics in UPC curricula.

2. Research, development and innovation activities

- Detection, location and prediction of future leaks/faults using data and models.

- Application of predictions to water network asset renewal policies.

Optimisation of network operation including energy, economic and environmental criteria.

- Demand management based on pricing policy and citizen involvement in governance.

  • 3. Dissemination activities

    - Promotion of seminars, technical dissemination sessions.

    - Participation in international events and meetings with the aim of creating a network of water management bodies.

    - Promotion of publications on topics of interest.
