The Parc UPC holds a Welcome Coffee in Castelldefels to foster synergies among the companies in the RDIT building
Oct 23, 2026
The Parc UPC has organised an event today at the RDIT Building on the Baix Llobregat Campus for the companies housed in the building to establish synergies with one another and connect with the UPC's research and technological potential. WaveMasters, SLIMOP Space, VITSOLC Technologies and TMRW Silicon Europe have presented their activity.
The Parc UPC this morning, 22 October, held the Welcome Coffee of Connexions RDIT, an event to promote mutual knowledge and collaboration among the companies housed in the RDIT Building, on the UPC Baix Llobregat Campus in Castelldefels. 35 people gathered in room 013.
After the reception and attendance registration, the Parc UPC, represented by its head José Luis Grande and by its business growth and incubation management officer, Marta Gelabert, welcomed the participants and reaffirmed their commitment to acting as a bridge and as a natural accelerator for their growth. Next, four companies from the building presented their projects and how the Parc UPC smooths the path towards their business objectives and entry into the UPC ecosystem and the talent of its students and researchers.
Four companies have presented their products
WaveMasters is a spin-off of the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) and the Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA) that works on satellite navigation (GNSS). Its CEO and co-founder, Javier Arribas, explained that GNSS systems are vulnerable to jamming (interference that blocks or degrades reception) and spoofing (false signals that deceive receivers). The company presented antenna devices with protection against interference and a development tool for research in GNSS and communications.
SLIMOP Space develops optical telescopes for Earth observation and laser communications. According to its CEO and co-founder, Eduardo Ferrer, its technology combines a lightweight design, high optical performance and a manufacturing process focused on reducing costs and delivery times. The company helps satellite manufacturers and constellation operators to integrate advanced optical capabilities into small-satellite missions. At the RDIT it is seeking collaboration opportunities with other companies and research groups in the park and wants to connect with the aerospace community.
VITSOLC Technologies, an ICFO spin-off created in 2023, wants to turn glass and transparent surfaces into electricity generators without giving up transparency. Its CTO, Sergi Cuesta, presented the company's transparent photovoltaic technology, based on photonic technology patented at ICFO and designed to be laminated onto architectural, automotive or greenhouse glass. At the RDIT it is seeking synergies with technology partners and collaborations on R&D projects, and offers optical and electrical characterisation, stability testing and integration of photovoltaics into new infrastructure.
TMRW Silicon Europe is a semiconductor deep tech company specialising in nanophotonic technologies, vertically integrated, from research to the development of end applications. Its platform, presented by Fàtima Montero, is based on patented silicon nanostructures to improve the performance of CMOS sensors. At the RDIT it is seeking to connect with the academic and scientific community, use the UPC's experimental infrastructure, find talent among UPC students and alumni, and develop application projects with industrial clients.
One of the most notable and highly valued aspects of the event was the proximity effect. Several attendees expressed their surprise on realising that companies they regarded as benchmarks are neighbours at the RDIT. This mutual discovery made it possible to spark the first conversations, enabling matchmaking around shared challenges. In addition. The event was attended by guest companies from the ESA BIC Barcelona programme (the European Space Agency's business incubation centre), although not all are physically housed at the Parc UPC, as well as representatives of the PMT (Parc Mediterrani de la Tecnologia) and of the Area of Promotion and Communication of the Baix Llobregat Campus.
The event ended with a coffee break and a networking space, so that the companies could establish contacts and explore possible collaborations.
