New headquarters of the co-working Espai Emprèn to help make the business ideas of students of the School of Engineering of Barcelona Est (Campus Diagonal-Besòs UPC) a reality

On October 26th, the fifth co-working space "Espai Emprèn" was inaugurated, an initiative that helps bring students' business ideas at the School of Engineering of Barcelona East (UPC Diagonal-Besòs Campus) to life, in order to promote entrepreneurial talent and new business projects.

The Espai Emprèn UPC is a workspace and collaboration space oriented towards promoting the talent of EBBE students with innovative ideas and business projects. A project that falls within the entrepreneurship promotion actions driven by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).

At the inauguration of the new space, we had the presence of the rector of UPC, Daniel Crespo; the director of EEBE, Adriana Farran Marsà; the vice-rector of Transfer, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship of UPC, Climent Molins; the head of the Innovation Management Service of UPC, Cristina Aresté Solana; the mayor of Sant Adrià de Besòs, Filo Cañete; the councilor Delegated for Local Economic Development at the Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council, Cristina Obregón; and Sonia Paredes, head of the Business Support section at the Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council; as well as representatives from the business sector, such as Itziar Blasco, head of startup programs at Barcelona Activa.

During the event, a presentation was given about the space and services provided to students by Espai Emprèn, highlighting the service of creating job positions through the establishment of their own company. Xavier Estaran, responsible for the Emprèn UPC Program, invited everyone present to hear the testimony of Mateu C., CPO and co-founder of Ecodeliver, a startup that has received guidance from the Innovation Management Service of UPC for its creation.

The space available to entrepreneurial students at the Diagonal-Besòs Campus is located in the basement of building C. A technologically equipped space of over 112 m2 capable of accommodating 25 people in a coworking format with the aim of addressing the needs of entrepreneurial initiatives in their initial development stages and promoting networking among entrepreneurial projects. It is divided into 3 areas, a central working area of approximately 100 m2, and two meeting rooms of 14 m2 each. Several outdoor spaces have also been adapted to the central passage area, totaling about 40 m2. In terms of equipment, the meeting rooms are equipped with 2 42" monitors, and the outdoor space with a monitored screen and projector. Additionally, there are 8 24" monitors available for work. The work furniture includes 8 work tables, 3 meeting tables, outdoor furniture with 3 office-style tables, 12 stools and a small table, and a sofa in the more informal meeting space, as well as lockers for personal belongings.
