Pillar I: Excellence science

This is the Pillar aimed at increasing European scientific competitiveness. Through funding research projects that break barriers of knowledge and supporting the professional development of the most outstanding researchers. Finally, it seeks to strengthen and improve the European research ecosystem and its infrastructures. The levels of technological maturity required are low, as it is a Pillar focused more on research than on innovation.

It is divided into three main programs:

  • European Research Council (ERC)
This is a program dedicated to funding talented and creative research personnel who propose projects at the frontier of knowledge. Emerging topics, innovative approaches, and research that transcends interdisciplinary boundaries will be prioritized.

  • Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)
These actions serve to finance the career development of researchers through excellent doctoral programs, individual postdoctoral projects, and collaborative projects.

  • Research Infrastructures (RI)
The objectives of this program are dedicated to consolidating, improving, and interconnecting existing research infrastructures in Europe. It also aims to create new cutting-edge infrastructures necessary for research in emerging sectors.
