A delegation from the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Kenya visited the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) as part of a series of meetings during their stay in Barcelona. The aim of the visit was to observe and learn from successful implementations of IT systems in various fields, with the goal of applying these insights to the creation or modification of Kenya’s own IT systems.
Among the key meetings, a session was held with the Moodle team, UPCnet, and Jesús Alcober, a professor at UPC. During this meeting, the Metacampus platform, a success story developed as part of the Unite! project, was presented, along with Atenea, UPC's academic management system. These two IT systems, highly useful in the university sector, sparked considerable interest for their utility and potential applicability in other contexts.
In addition to the university field, members of the Kenyan delegation also expressed interest in other sectors, such as hospital management IT systems and other organisations. The visit served to establish collaborative links and share knowledge that could help improve management systems in Kenya.
