Infoday Siemens Energy AI Chair: “Energy Sustainability for a Decarbonized Society 5.0”

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) will host on Tuesday, 18 November 2025 the Infoday of the Siemens Energy AI Chair: “Energy Sustainability for a Decarbonised Society 5.0”, an event that will highlight the role of artificial intelligence in the energy transition towards a decarbonised and sustainable society.

The event will take place in the Agora Room of Building C3 (North Campus, Jordi Girona 1-3, Barcelona) and will bring together researchers, institutional representatives, and professionals from the energy sector to share advances, experiences, and projects linked to the Siemens Energy-UPC Chair.

Programme of the day

The open session will begin at 9:30 a.m. with registration and a welcome to participants, followed by the presentation of the Siemens Energy AI Chair, where the current status, objectives, and first results of the initiative will be presented, along with other related activities such as hackathons and strategic collaborations.

Subsequently, various projects and success stories will be presented, exemplifying the application of AI technologies in more efficient and sustainable energy processes.

The discussion will continue with a round table on “Smart Decarbonisation: The Role of AI in a Sustainable Future”, featuring representatives from Siemens Energy, the UPC, and invited researchers, moderated by an expert in energy transition.

The open session will conclude at 12:45 p.m. and will be followed by a networking lunch, aimed at fostering the exchange of ideas and potential future collaborations.

Internal sessions

In the afternoon, activities will continue with exclusive sessions for members of the Chair. Between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m., doctoral students from the Siemens Energy AI Chair will present their research work grouped into different Work Packages, followed by an open discussion session.

Finally, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., the Steering Committee meeting will take place, during which the actions carried out, the results obtained, and the planning of upcoming activities will be assessed.

A space to advance towards Society 5.0

The Siemens Energy AI Chair is a joint initiative between Siemens Energy and the UPC, supported by the ENIA programme (National Artificial Intelligence Strategy), aimed at promoting research and knowledge transfer in the fields of energy sustainability, digitalisation, and decarbonisation.

The 2025 Infoday is presented as an opportunity to share knowledge, foster synergies, and strengthen the common commitment towards a greener, smarter, and more sustainable Society 5.0.
