A delegation from the Korea Association of Regional Development visits the UPC

A delegation from the Korea Association of Regional Development (KARDI) visited the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) yesterday to learn about research and innovation projects and explore possible collaborations. Founded in 1993, KARDI brings together 16 research institutes funded by metropolitan and provincial governments, as well as the Korea Research Institute for Local Administration and the Korea Institute of Local Finance. Since 2006, KARDI has been an associate member of CityNet and focuses its activity on joint research and collaboration projects related to regional development and local government management.

The visit included 31 participants, including presidents, directors and researchers from regional research institutes in South Korea, as well as managers responsible for management, planning and public relations.

The day began with a welcome and presentation of the UPC by Prof. Jordi Berenguer, Vice-Rector for Transfer, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Following this, Oh Kyun, president of The Seoul Institute, offered words of thanks on behalf of KARDI. Subsequently, Marc Cheah, a researcher at CITCEA-UPC, gave a presentation on the centre, and the special lecture was given by Prof. Hyuk Park, an expert in Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering, who discussed research trends in nanosatellites and their implications for local government policies.

The visit strengthens the ties between the UPC and the Korean institutes, promoting knowledge exchange and joint projects in research and innovation.
