During the event, the role of the UPC's OBSEA Laboratory was highlighted as a success story in the use of artificial intelligence for efficient data management in shared infrastructures.
The promotion technician for the scientific and technical infrastructures of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) has actively participated in the ICRI 2024 conference held in Australia, where they had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with international experts in the field of research infrastructures. During the event, the role of the UPC's OBSEA Laboratory was highlighted as a success story in the use of artificial intelligence for efficient data management in shared infrastructures.
One of the most significant points of the stay was the participation in sessions on the global challenges facing research infrastructures, where emphasis was placed on the importance of managing the large volume of data and the associated need to increase energy production in a sustainable manner. Additionally, the importance of human capital in research infrastructures was underscored, highlighting the need to develop training and talent retention programs. As a result of participating in these conferences, promising contacts have been established with the ASEAN network (a network of research infrastructures from Southeast Asian countries), opening possibilities for future collaboration on shared infrastructure projects.
On the other hand, initial relationships have also been established with a number of Australian universities: University of Queensland, University of Southern Queensland, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, and University of Western Australia.
