Patent Description

A new, safer, and more efficient system for the manufacturing of waste containers has been patented. This system allows for positive control both for opening and closing the door without the mechanisms interfering with the waste contents. Companies interested in commercially exploiting the technology and/or establishing R&D agreements for its development are sought.

The Challenge

Various proposals exist regarding waste containers that can be operated and manipulated by different types of handling and emptying devices. However, most of them only exert positive control to move the doors and close their respective waste discharge openings, and they are unable to exert positive control to open the doors as well. Most current solutions for opening the doors are based on actuation mechanisms that interfere with the container contents, potentially causing damage or breakage, often requiring repairs or replacements at an added cost.

The Technology

The technology presented here solves the interference problems with container waste thanks to coupling means configured to join with a coupling member of a device for handling and emptying containers, and actuation means based on a hydraulic or pneumatic system. These means include linear actuators formed by a cylinder and a piston linearly displaceable therein, where the rod of the piston itself is attached at one end to one of the doors to move it to open or close the opening.

Innovative Advantages

  • The actuation elements do not interfere with the container waste.
  • Movement control is commanded both in the opening and closing of the doors.
  • By having pipes instead of mechanisms, the process is safer and the elements easier to protect. Since pipes are less susceptible to breakdowns or damage caused by waste.
  • Injecting the liquid from the crane saves mechanisms in the container.
