I. Object
- Recognize a total of 8 startups formed by students, alumni, faculty, and/or staff of UPC and created in the last 3 years, with the aim of helping to finance initial expenses in the entrepreneurial development process.
II. Characteristics
- Beneficiaries: Startups or spinoffs established in the years 2022-2023-2024 promoted by students, alumni, faculty, and/or staff of the UPC
- Grant allocation:
- The maximum amount allocated to this call for the 2024 edition will be €60,000 charged to budget item G/48312/ESP
- The maximum amount granted to each company will be €7,500
- Evaluation criteria for proposals:
- Recognitions will be awarded through competitive competition and until the total recognitions assigned to each modality are exhausted
- The criteria and evaluation scales applied will not be discriminatory and will respect the principle of equality
- Proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- (1) Problem - Solution (15 points)
- Identification of the problem to be solved or the need that the solution covers.
- Associated value proposition: differentiation from the competition.
- Innovative character (own developments will be especially taken into account).
- Relation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- (2) Impact (15 points)
- Market size and trend.
- Economic impact (expected return).
- Social and/or environmental impact associated with the project.
- Viability (15 points)
- Description of the business model.
- Growth strategy.
- Main risks associated with the project.
- (4) Team (15 points)
- Knowledge and experience of the entrepreneurial team.
- Complementarity of profiles.
- (5) Achieved milestones (20 points)
- Startup evolution: main indicators / metrics achieved.
- Other relevant facts: funding obtained, recognitions, awards, etc.
- (6) Relationship with the UPC (10 points)
- Proportion of UPC students and/or alumni linked to the project.
- Participation in UPC entrepreneurship support initiatives.
- (7) Purpose of the grant (10 points)
- Concepts to be financed.
- Motivation.
- (1) Problem - Solution (15 points)
- Different proposals will be prioritized based on the score obtained according to the established criteria. In case of a tie, the scores obtained in the "Relationship with the UPC" criterion will be specifically assessed.
