he Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) had a prominent presence at 4YFN 2026 (Four Years From Now), the technology entrepreneurship event held as part of the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

Researchers Maria Pau Ginebra and Jezabel Curbelo, and researcher Sergi Abadal, honoured with the 2025 National Research Awards from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Maria Pau Ginebra receives the Award in the Leonardo Torres Quevedo category, for Engineering and Architecture, while Sergi Abadal and Jezabel Curbelo are recognised in the category for young researchers.

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) has positioned itself as the Spanish university with the highest number of European patent applications in 2024, according to newly published data from the European Patent Office (EPO). This achievement strengthens UPC’s commitment to innovation and technology transfer, contributing to the protection of the knowledge generated by its research community.

On Wednesday, 26th February, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) hosted a delegation of representatives from the universities of the Unite! alliance for a special visit to two of its most important scientific-technical facilities: the Maritime Engineering Laboratory (LIM) and the Remote Sensing Lab (ACTRIS-ERIC).

The initiative seeks to recognize excellence in open science practices among UPC community.
