El repte/The challenge
The bicycle is undoubtedly one of the best sustainable alternatives for urban mobility. However, its use is limited in cities with complicated topography and numerous steep hills, where cyclists exert considerable physical effort, especially on gradients exceeding 10%. While this effort is rewarded during downhill rides, the prospect of climbing another hill discourages the use of conventional bicycles. Electric bikes can assist uphill climbs, but many either do not store energy during descents and braking, or those that do often resemble motorcycles more than bicycles in terms of appearance and weight.
La tecnologia/The technology
The invention presented here is a new design of electric bicycle. It features the capability to recover energy during descents or when the cyclist stops pedaling, as well as during braking. Additionally, the components of the electric system can be easily detached, allowing the bicycle to be transformed into a conventional bike suitable for mountain biking (BTT).

- It consists of a set of elements that can be assembled and disassembled, transforming the electric bicycle into a conventional bicycle, or vice versa.
- Compared to a conventional bicycle, the additional weight of the element set is approximately 7 kg.
- It allows storing energy generated by a motor-generator in capacitors and batteries.
- The total energy efficiency reaches up to 35%.
