El repte/The challenge
In Europe, the construction sector accounts for 40% of total energy consumption and is responsible for 36% of community greenhouse gas emissions. This is why building envelope solutions are evolving towards ventilated facades, which offer a significant advantage in terms of maintaining thermal and waterproof continuity, thus reducing energy losses and improving building livability.
Constructing a ventilated facade requires assembling a support structure that is simpler the greater the strength, deformation capacity, and lightness offered by the cladding. Additionally, sustainable and environmentally friendly construction materials already represent a significant added value in this context.
La tecnologia/The technology
The material consists of a laminate of layers including cement slurry and non-woven plant fiber, with two outer layers of mineral finish. These layers undergo vacuum treatment and strong compression. The outer layers can be finished in various ways, such as colored, textured, matte, polished, and functional finishes. The result is a panel ranging from 8 to 12 mm thick, depending on the number of layers. Due to its strength, deformability, and lightness, these panels can be presented in large formats, reducing the complexity of the support structure and increasing productivity during assembly.

Fase actual de desenvolupament/Current stage of development
The material is currently developed for dimensions of 300x300 mm². There is a need to improve durability, expand manufacturing dimensions, and develop anchoring systems.
Aplicacions i mercat objectiu/Applications and target market
The primary application of the material is as cladding panels for ventilated facades. Due to its moldability characteristics, the material can also be used for drywall partitions, suspended ceilings, landscaping, urban furniture, and more.
Elements for ventilated facades with support structures of lower complexity. Due to its high deformability, it is difficult to break and there is minimal risk of pieces detaching onto public roads.
